At the heart of ImmuneHealthXL's strategy are four ambitious moonshots with the goal to build communities, guide collaboration, spark initiatives, unlock funding opportunities, and translate discoveries into real impact for patients. 

ImmuneHealthXL (IHXL) is taking on the challenge of immune-mediated inflammatory diseases with a disease-overarching approach. As part of our strategy, we have defined four ambitious moonshots. These moonshots go beyond long-term goals – they serve to build communities, guide collaboration, spark new initiatives, apply for funding opportunities and drive the translation of discoveries into real impact for patients.

Moonshot The Full Picture

Moonshot The full picture is aimed at uncovering the immune mechanisms that drive IMIDs across individuals, tissues, and time—laying, by using technologies such as advanced immune profiling, multi-omics, spatial imaging, and computational modelling. The Moonshot is presented by Janneke Samsom and Marieke van Ham. 

Moonshot Living Without Fear 

Moonshot Living Without Fear focuses on developing new immune monitoring tools to better predict disease activity and treatment response in patients with IMIDs. The Moonshot is presented by Hans Ulrich Scherer and Sander Tas. 

Moonshot Restoring Immune Health 

Moonshot Restoring Immune Health focuses on developing therapies that directly correct immune dysregulation. This includes repurposing existing drugs across Immune Mediated Inflamatory Diseases and advancing innovative approaches such as nanomedicines, cellular therapies, antibody-based therapies and small molecules at restoring lasting immune balance for patients. The Moonshot is presented by Jolanda de Vries and Filip Eftimov. 

Moonshot Tools at Hand 

Moonshot Tools at Hand focuses on developing advanced models of immune processes using technologies such as organoids, organ-on-a-chip, spatiotemporal single cell analyses, and AI driven virtual cell modelling. The Moonshot is presented by Rogier Thurlings and Marieke van Ham.
